Job Summary

The Chemistry Expert produces well-explained responses to advanced chemistry queries to train AI models. This expert evaluates data for scientific accuracy, creates benchmark "golden responses" across foundational and specialized chemistry branches, documents solution rationale for model interpretability, and collaborates remotely with project leads.

Key Roles & Operational Responsibilities

1. AI Model Benchmarking & "Golden Response" Creation

Authoritative Response Generation: Draft comprehensive, accurate, and deeply explained solutions for complex chemistry problems to establish benchmark training data.
Rubric-Independent Quality: Focus on conceptual clarity, depth, and pedagogical rigor rather than simple rubric checking.
Interpretability Documentation: Document detailed context, step-by-step reasoning, and chemical rationale behind solutions to support model interpretability and future alignment.

2. Scientific Review & Quality Assurance

Data Evaluation: Audit chemistry questions, datasets, and AI-generated outputs for factual precision, current scientific standards, and chemical safety.
Multi-Disciplinary Scope: Apply advanced knowledge across organic chemistry, inorganic systems, physical chemistry, analytical methods, and materials science.

3. Annotation Collaboration & Standards Alignment

Cross-Functional Synergy: Partner with annotation leads and project managers to refine response guidelines and raise data benchmarks.
Remote Workshops: Engage in remote contributor discussions to ensure consistent standards across the scientific annotation community.

Foundational Capabilities & Prerequisites

Preferred Qualifications & Experience

Educational Baseline: PhD in Chemistry or a closely related scientific discipline featuring broad expertise in foundational and advanced concepts.
Scientific Communication: Proven capability to explain intricate chemical mechanisms and theories with precision in written format.
Content Development: Track record in authoring, reviewing, or publishing scientific materials (peer-reviewed research articles, educational curricula, or industry reports).
Domain Breadth: Versatility across multiple sub-disciplines (organic, inorganic, physical, analytical, materials science).
Attention to Detail: High commitment to methodological rigor, notation accuracy, and error-free chemical structures/equations.

Desirable Attributes

Prior experience with AI training, data annotation, RLHF (Reinforcement Learning from Human Feedback), or digital content development projects.
Strong self-management skills in remote, asynchronous work settings.
