Job Summary
A public university is seeking an Assistant Estates Officer (Electrical and Electronics) (Salary Scale PU7NTSC, Ref: EXT AD 20/2/2026) for its Estates and Works Department. Applicants must hold an Engineering degree in a relevant field, be registered with a professional body where applicable, and demonstrate strong computer literacy and supervisory skills. Key Roles & Operational Responsibilities
1. Engineering Design & Maintenance Supervision
- Design & Budgeting: Support the technical design, cost estimation, and budgeting for university-wide electrical, electronic, and power distribution engineering projects.
- Routine Maintenance & Repair: Direct and supervise routine installation, preventative maintenance, and repair of campus electrical wiring, electronic control systems, power equipment, and security/emergency systems.
- Workforce Deployment: Assign daily maintenance and installation duties to lower-level technicians and electricians, overseeing task execution and reporting on progress.
2. Project Site Oversight & Quality Compliance
- On-Site Supervision: Perform direct site supervision of internal and contracted electrical/electronics engineering projects to ensure strict adherence to design specifications and university engineering standards.
- Safety & Security Compliance: Monitor electrical installations to guarantee compliance with institutional safety, emergency power backup, and occupational security standards.
3. Technical Advisory & Reporting
- Professional Advice: Provide actionable technical feedback and recommendations to the Estates Officer (Electrical and Electronics) regarding campus power grid stability, energy efficiency, and equipment upgrades.
- Departmental Support: Execute other official technical and administrative duties assigned by the Head of Department or Senior Estates Officers.
Foundational Capabilities & Prerequisites
Required Academic Credentials & Competencies
- Undergraduate Qualification: Earned Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or a closely related engineering field from a recognized university.
- Professional Registration: Registered with (or eligible for registration by) a recognized professional engineering body/board where applicable by regulation.
- Technical & Soft Skills: Practical knowledge of electrical designs, circuit diagnostics, and power maintenance; high level of computer literacy (including engineering software and Microsoft Office); excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
