Job Summary
The Principal Planner develops Level 3/4 EPCIC schedules, tracks critical paths, and conducts schedule risk analyses for McDermott at Kasenyi Village, Buliisa. Requiring Chinese fluency and 10–15 years of EPCIC experience, this specialist uses Primavera P6 and Deltek Fuse/Risk to validate progress, build S-curves, and design recovery plans.
Key Roles & Operational Responsibilities
1. Integrated EPCIC Schedule Development & Baseline Management
- Baseline Creation: Facilitate detailed multi-discipline scope reviews to establish baseline schedules during project setup and setup phases.
- Level 3 & Level 4 Logic Scheduling: Build and maintain logically linked Level 3 and Level 4 activity schedules according to precedence flow best practices across onshore processing, offshore topsides, subsea, and pipeline scopes.
- Lifecycle Integration: Maintain sequence logic across Engineering, Procurement, Fabrication, Construction, Installation, Hook-Up, and Commissioning (EPCIC) to ensure total critical path control.
2. Schedule Integrity, EVMS & Risk Analysis
- Software Tooling & Quality Audits: Perform schedule health checks using Deltek Fuse & Risk, Primavera P6, and Microsoft Project.
- Progress Validation: Update and validate physical progress reported through Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS), generating workforce histograms, S-curves, and variance reports using advanced Excel features.
- Delay Analysis & Workarounds: Identify critical path drivers and potential schedule delays, formulating recovery plans, schedule impact analyses, and operational workarounds.
3. Cross-Functional Coordination & Leadership
- Multi-National Alignment: Leverage Chinese language fluency to bridge communication between international engineering, fabrication, and on-site project management teams.
- Team Mentorship: Support project schedule execution and provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior planning staff.
Foundational Capabilities & Prerequisites
Required Qualifications & Baseline Experience
- Educational Baseline: Bachelor's Degree in Project Management, Engineering, Construction Management, Business Management, or equivalent technical training/experience.
- Language Proficiency: Fluent in Chinese (Mandarin) and proficient in English (written and verbal).
- Industry Track Record: 10 to 15 years of EPCIC experience in onshore/offshore oil & gas or power generation projects.
- Software Mastery: Advanced command of Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, Deltek Fuse & Risk, and Microsoft Office (advanced Excel skills including dynamic tables, histograms, formulas, and progress S-curves).
- Scheduling Competency: Proven ability to build multi-disciplinary logically linked schedules, evaluate critical paths, perform EVMS progress analysis, and develop schedule mitigation plans.
Preferred Qualifications
- Planning and scheduling experience on Large LNG or Topside Fabrication projects.
