Job Summary
The Investment Director sources, screens, and conducts due diligence on hedge funds, systematic strategies, and liquid alternatives. This director performs macroeconomic modeling, analyzes risk metrics and performance attribution, develops Python-based analytical tools, and authors comprehensive investment memoranda for senior leadership.
Key Roles & Operational Responsibilities
1. Hedge Fund & Manager Due Diligence
- Manager Evaluation: Source, screen, and evaluate investment opportunities across global geographies, liquid alternatives, and systematic strategies.
- In-Depth Analysis: Conduct deep-dive quantitative and qualitative assessments of manager performance, investment philosophy, risk parameters, and organizational stability.
- Lifecycle Management: Coordinate the full due diligence pipeline, maintain tracking systems, conduct ongoing manager reviews, and author investment memos for leadership.
2. Macroeconomic Research & Strategic Positioning
- Macro Intelligence: Monitor and interpret global macroeconomic indicators, central bank policies, and geopolitical developments to evaluate market implications.
- Scenario Modeling: Develop scenario analyses and market trend models to inform strategic asset allocation and dynamic portfolio positioning.
- Leadership Briefings: Distill complex market dynamics into actionable insights, scenario briefs, and periodic investment updates.
3. Quantitative Analysis & Platform Optimization
- Quantitative Tooling: Utilize Python and Bloomberg to build analytical scripts, evaluate risk metrics, and assess performance attribution.
- Process Enhancement: Drive continuous improvement across investment research frameworks and operational workflows.
Foundational Capabilities & Prerequisites
Required Technical Profile & Experience
- Professional Baseline: 8 to 12 years of progressive experience in investment management, investment research, institutional allocation, or portfolio management.
- Advanced Degree: Master’s or PhD degree in Finance, Mathematics, Physics, Economics, or a related quantitative discipline.
- Programming Skills: Advanced hands-on proficiency in Python for investment analysis, quantitative modeling, and portfolio analytics.
- Financial Mastery: Deep knowledge of complex financial instruments, liquid alternatives, hedge fund strategies, and systematic trading models.
- Platform Expertise: Native proficiency in Bloomberg and industry-standard financial and analytical platforms.
- Communication: Exceptional research, synthesis, and written communication skills for creating senior-level investment memos.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Designations: CFA, CAIA, or equivalent industry certifications.
- Additional Data/Tech Skills: Proficiency in R, SQL, or database management systems.
- Specialized Exposure: Direct experience with emerging markets or a verifiable track record in portfolio management.
