Job Summary
A public university is seeking an Enrolled Nurse for University Health Services. Applicants must hold a Certificate in Nursing, be registered with the Uganda Nursing and Midwifery Council (UNMC), and possess proven clinical nursing experience. Applications close August 7, 2026.
Key Roles & Operational Responsibilities
1. Patient Assessment & Direct Nursing Care
- Vital Signs Monitoring: Perform routine physical examinations, checking and recording patient temperature, pulse, blood pressure, respiration rate, and oxygen saturation.
- Mobility & Hygiene Assistance: Assist patients experiencing mobility challenges with personal hygiene, bathing, feeding, and physical movement.
- Care Plan Execution: Work under the supervision of the Assistant Nursing Officer alongside Registered Nurses and Doctors to implement individualized patient care plans.
2. Emergency First Aid & Clinical Documentation
- First Aid & Triage: Provide immediate first aid and stabilization during campus medical emergencies, accidents, or acute illness episodes.
- Patient Charting: Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential patient notes, treatment records, and nursing reports for clinical review.
3. Team Collaboration & Clinical Ethics
- Interdisciplinary Support: Work collaboratively as part of the multidisciplinary University Health Services team to drive positive health outcomes for students and staff.
- Professional Standards: Maintain high ethical standards, patient confidentiality, empathetic bedside manner, and compliance with health center protocol.
Foundational Capabilities & Prerequisites
Required Qualifications & Certifications
- Nursing Credential: Earned Certificate in Nursing from a recognized nursing institution.
- Professional Registration: Must be fully registered with the Uganda Nursing and Midwifery Council (UNMC) with a current practicing license.
- Clinical Experience: Proven practical experience working as an Enrolled Nurse in a clinical or health center setting.
- Personal & Professional Attributes:
- Empathetic, caring, and patient-centered attitude.
- Strong organizational and verbal/written communication skills.
- Physical endurance to handle long shifts on feet and work in high-pressure clinical environments.
