Job Summary
A public university is seeking an Associate Professor of Business for its Department of Business Studies. Applicants must hold a PhD in Business, have 7+ years higher education experience (with 3 years as Senior Lecturer), 5 peer-reviewed publications since last promotion (first author on at least 2), and supervised 5 Master's graduates. Key Roles & Operational Responsibilities
1. Academic Instruction, Leadership & Student Advisory
- Lecture & Seminar Delivery: Prepare and deliver advanced lectures, seminars, and coursework to undergraduate and postgraduate business students.
- Student Mentorship: Guide, advise, and monitor students on their academic performance and professional progression.
- Assessment & Evaluation: Design, set, mark, and evaluate tests, coursework, and formal university examinations with timely feedback.
2. Research Excellence, Dissemination & Knowledge Transfer
- Original Scholarly Research: Lead original research initiatives in business studies, disseminating findings through recognized scholarly channels.
- Knowledge Transfer: Promote knowledge transfer and practical application of business concepts through innovative scholarly work and industry engagement.
- Postgraduate Supervision: Guide and supervise Master's degree students through their thesis research and completion.
3. Service & Departmental Leadership
- Academic Leadership: Support the Department of Business Studies in curriculum development, quality assurance, and research strategy.
- Public Service: Maintain an active track record of service to the broader public, business community, and professional associations.
Foundational Capabilities & Prerequisites
Required Academic Credentials & Rank Requirements
- Terminal Degree: Earned PhD in Business (or a closely related management/business discipline) from a recognized university.
- Teaching Experience: Minimum of seven (7) years of university-level teaching experience.
- Senior Lecturer Tenure: At least three (3) years of continuous service at the rank of Senior Lecturer in a recognized higher education institution.
- Public Service Record: Demonstrated, good track record of public service and community/industry engagement.
Publishing & Postgraduate Supervision Thresholds
- Journal Publications: At least five (5) publications in recognized peer-reviewed journals within the candidate's specialization published since promotion to Senior Lecturer.
- First Authorship: The applicant must be the first author for at least two (2) of the required 5 publications.
- Master's Supervision: Documented record of having supervised at least five (5) Master's degree students to successful completion since promotion to Senior Lecturer.
