Job Summary

World Vision Uganda is hiring a full-time Driver based in Imvepi, Terego District. The role manages passenger transport, field cargo delivery, vehicle maintenance inspections, and travel logs. Applicants require an O-Level certificate, valid driving permit (Classes B, D1, C), Defensive Driving certification, basic mechanics knowledge, and 3+ years experience. Key Roles & Operational Responsibilities

1. Passenger & Cargo Field Transportation

• Safe Operations: Drive World Vision vehicles and authorized passengers to approved destinations in strict compliance with World Vision Vehicle Policy and national traffic regulations.
• Logistical Delivery: Safely transport and deliver parcels, program supplies, mail, and official documentation to designated field offices, project sites, and partner locations.
• Passenger Safety & Security: Monitor and safeguard the security of vehicle occupants, luggage, and transported equipment throughout every journey.

2. Vehicle Inspection, Maintenance & Hygiene

• Pre-Trip Checks: Conduct routine daily inspections (engine oil, coolant, brake fluid, battery water, tire pressure, lights, third-party insurance, and license validity) prior to departing.
• Minor Auto Repairs: Perform routine minor mechanical adjustments (tightening loose fittings, topping up fluids, resolving hard starts) and maintain clean interior/exterior vehicle hygiene.
• Incident Reporting: Promptly report all minor and major vehicle damages, mechanical faults, or road accidents to the Project Coordinator.

3. Logistical Compliance, Reporting & Record Keeping

• Logbook Management: Maintain detailed travel logbooks recording destination routes, travel times, mileage, fuel usage, and official work hours.
• Monthly Fleet Reports: Compile and submit monthly vehicle status and fuel consumption reports in alignment with organizational transport guidelines.
• Parking & Speed Compliance: Adhere strictly to authorized speed limits, parking regulations at designated secure locations, and standard duty schedules.

4. Mission & Community Integration

• Mission Alignment: Actively participate in daily devotions and weekly Chapel services, embodying World Vision's Christian values and spirit of service.
• Professional Standards: Maintain a professional appearance and conduct business in accordance with organizational dress codes and ethical standards.

Foundational Capabilities & Prerequisites

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Education: Minimum of an O-Level Certificate of Education (UCE or equivalent).
• Driving Credentials:
  • Valid Ugandan Driving Permit with Classes B, D1, and any Class "C" category. (Class A1 permit is an added advantage).
  • Certificate in Defensive Driving from a recognized driving school.
• Years of Experience: Minimum of 3 years of professional driving experience.
• Technical & Operational Competencies:
  • Basic Mechanical Knowledge: Ability to diagnose basic vehicle faults and handle light emergency maintenance.
  • First Aid Skills: Practical knowledge of emergency first aid response.
  • Computer Literacy: Basic computer skills for submitting log reports and digital communications.
• Sector Background: Prior driving experience within NGOs, humanitarian aid, or emergency response settings is highly valued.
• Language & Communication: Effective written and verbal communication in English; knowledge of local languages spoken in West Nile/Terego District is beneficial.
• Faith & Core Values: Committed practicing Christian capable of working constructively across diverse denominations.
