Job Summary
A public university is seeking a Lecturer in Culture & Heritage Studies for its Department of Tourism Management. Key Roles & Operational Responsibilities
1. Academic Instruction & Comprehensive Student Support
- Lecture & Seminar Delivery: Prepare and deliver well-structured lectures, seminars, and tutorials to undergraduate and postgraduate students in culture, heritage, and tourism studies.
- Assessment & Examination: Set, invigilate, mark, compile, and grade coursework, tests, and formal university examinations while delivering timely academic feedback.
- Holistic Student Advisory: Guide students on academic performance, address non-academic challenges proactively, and refer students requiring specialized counseling and guidance to appropriate university resources.
2. Scholarly Research & Graduate Supervision
- Heritage & Cultural Research: Conduct high-quality research in culture and heritage studies, publishing findings in scholarly journals and presenting at academic conferences and seminars.
- Research Supervision: Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate students undertaking research projects and field studies in cultural tourism and heritage management.
3. Departmental Administration & Community Outreach
- Administrative Engagement: Execute official administrative tasks and departmental duties as assigned by the Head of the Department of Tourism Management.
- Community Service: Contribute to the university and wider society through cultural preservation initiatives, community outreach, and public service.
Foundational Capabilities & Prerequisites
Required Academic Credentials & Experience
- Qualifications: Earned PhD, Master's degree, and Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., Culture & Heritage Studies, Tourism Management, Anthropology) from recognized institutions of higher learning.
- Teaching Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of university teaching experience at the level of Assistant Lecturer gained from a recognized higher education institution.
- Research Capability: Demonstrated and proven ability to conduct scholarly research and disseminate findings.
- Professional & Technical Competencies: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, computer literacy, and the ability to work in a team and network with like-minded professionals.
- Public Service Record: Documented, good track record of active service to the public.
