Clinical Informatics Lead

Job Summary

The Clinical Informatics Lead designs clinical evaluation frameworks for machine learning models prior to deployment, conducts safety assessments with ML engineers, and governs health data standards (ICD-10, SNOMED CT, LOINC). This lead creates post-market clinical surveillance processes, guides product roadmaps with evidence-based research, mentors clinical informaticists, and represents the organization across clinical advisory boards and health system working groups.

Key Roles & Operational Responsibilities

1. AI Clinical Validation & Safety Frameworks

• Evaluation Ownership: Define, build, and enforce standardized clinical evaluation frameworks for all internal AI/ML models before production release.
• Model Output Review: Partner with machine learning engineers, clinical researchers, and practicing physicians to review complex model predictions, edge cases, and unexpected clinical outputs.
• Safety & Surveillance: Establish proactive clinical safety protocols, risk management frameworks, and post-market surveillance systems to monitor model performance in active care environments.

2. Product Roadmap Guidance & Health Data Governance

• Evidence-Based Strategy: Shape product roadmaps using insights from published clinical literature, real-world evidence, and deep health data analytics.
• Data Standards Alignment: Ensure seamless alignment across clinical dataset architectures using standardized health vocabularies, including ICD-10, SNOMED CT, and LOINC.
• Clinical Representation: Serve as the clinical voice for Curely AI in partner health system working groups, external advisory boards, and industry conferences.

3. Team Leadership & Technical Mentorship

• Team Supervision: Lead, mentor, and grow a specialized squad of clinical informaticists and data analysts.
• Cross-Functional Bridge: Translate complex clinical workflows into technical requirements for machine learning engineers, while communicating statistical AI concepts clearly to medical stakeholders.

Foundational Capabilities & Prerequisites

Required Technical Profile & Experience

• Academic & Clinical Credentials: Advanced clinical degree (MD, DO, PharmD, or equivalent advanced clinical qualification/experience).
• Informatics Experience Baseline: Minimum of 5+ years of progressive clinical informatics experience within a health system, clinical research institution, or health-tech organization.
• Data Standards Mastery: Strong analytical capabilities with demonstrated fluency in health data terminologies (ICD-10, SNOMED, LOINC).
• AI/ML Evaluation: Direct experience evaluating artificial intelligence or machine learning models for clinical safety, bias, and diagnostic efficacy.
• Communication Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills tailored for both technical engineering and medical audiences.

• Professional certifications in clinical informatics (e.g., AMIA or HIMSS).
• Hands-on experience with medical device regulatory submissions (e.g., FDA SaMD, CE marking).
