General Manager

Job Summary

The General Manager manages corporate profit and loss (P&L) statements, branch audit logs, credit portfolio health dashboards, asset registry documents, and regional team KPI matrix sheets. Core duties include directing annual budgetary frameworks; evaluating multi-branch operational targets; tracking regional loan delinquency indicators; building corporate relationships with boda-boda vehicle manufacturers; and steering change management processes for the operations division.

Key Roles & Executive Responsibilities

1. Strategic Leadership & Operational Excellence

• Provide day-to-day operational leadership across all Ugandan and regional branch infrastructure to ensure sustainable growth, high portfolio quality, and operational efficiency.
• Direct the translation of long-term board visions into clear branch-level execution roadmaps, ensuring complete compliance with local micro-finance regulatory statutes.
• Analyze complex operational dashboards, identifying performance drops relative to target Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and deploying decisive corrective field strategies.
• Lead cross-functional internal audit reviews, scaling process improvements to maximize cost optimization across all distribution loops.

2. Financial Stewardship & Asset Lifecycle Governance

• Own the annual operational budgeting cycle, cash forecasting, and resource deployment planning in alignment with senior international leadership parameters.
• Track multi-branch revenue lines, capital expenditures (CapEx), operational outlays (OpEx), and net margins to maintain sustainable unit economics.
• Oversee the end-to-end management of physical inventory assets, ensuring precise control over titles, manufacturer warranties, legal logbook document registration, and customer hand-off flows.

3. Team Empowerment & High-Performance Culture

• Lead, mentor, and evaluate a cross-functional management team, including regional managers, compliance officers, and Branch Executives.
• Build a performance-driven culture across the company's offices, setting clear lines of personal and branch accountability.
• Coordinate institutional talent identification, structured technical training programs, and comprehensive leadership development plans to ensure adequate staffing capability.

4. Last-Mile Customer Journey & Experience Optimization

• Drive customer retention strategies, verifying that user journeys—from initial digital application and background review to collection cycles and account closure—remain friction-free.
• Monitor automated consumer credit profiling systems, ensuring field credit assessments remain balanced, accurate, and ethical.
• Build and manage relationships with key stakeholders, equipment suppliers, regional regulators, and motorcycle trade associations to unlock new business development pathways.

Foundational Capabilities & Prerequisites

Required Executive Experience & Academic Base

• Leadership Longevity: Minimum of ten (10) years of progressive, verifiable leadership experience, with at least five (5) years spent in an upper executive or senior C-suite operational management role.
• Proven Operational Track Record: Demonstrated success managing large-scale, geographically distributed, multi-branch networks with complex inventory and collection matrices.
• Undergraduate Academic Base: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Commerce, Accounting, Management, or a related discipline.
• Financial Acumen: Advanced capacity in financial modeling, corporate budgeting, forecasting, and master P&L tracking.

Preferred Interdisciplinary Strengths

• Advanced Postgraduate Credentials: A Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA), Strategic Management, Finance, or an equivalent corporate governance track is strongly encouraged.
• Asset Finance Domain Knowledge: Prior leadership experience inside an asset-financing firm, commercial leasing group, FinTech operator, or specialized micro-finance bank.
