Graduate Program - QHSE Engineer

Job Summary

The Graduate Program - QHSE Engineer rotates through frontline site jobs and dedicated safety positions across multiple African subsidiaries. This engineer monitors project sites to ensure full compliance with safety, hygiene, environmental, and quality regulations, manages localized safety reports, engages directly with site crews and branch managers, and collaborates with executive mentors to build managerial skills over a three-year period.

The 3-Year Rotational Framework & Responsibilities

1. Year 1: Baseline Site Exposure & Foundations (Country 1)

• Operational Immersive Training: Spend time embedded directly within basic field teams, performing the core daily routines of Workers, Team Leaders, and Site Managers to build a ground-up understanding of construction logistics.
• Introductory Safety Compliance: Support the field office by stepping into baseline functional tracks, working as an HSE Reporter, HSE Liaison, and Junior Site HSE Officer.
• Regulatory Auditing: Assist field personnel in performing routine site walks to verify employee adherence to standard occupational health, hygiene, and environmental codes.

2. Year 2: Technical Skills Development & Expansion (Country 2)

• Functional Coordination: Transition to a secondary country to assume expanded responsibilities as a Junior Site HSE Officer and Country HSE Assistant.
• Industrial Support Management: Direct safety protocols within specialized mechanical maintenance workshops, mitigating risks tied to heavy machinery and fleet servicing.
• Risk Reporting: Analyze field incident trends, drafting detailed hazard alerts and performance briefs for regional environmental and quality dashboards.

3. Year 3: Managerial Specialization & Leadership (Country 3)

• Independent Execution: Take full ownership of specialized QHSE strategies on a medium-sized project or drive a designated technical branch within a large-scale construction site.
• Stakeholder Integration: Coordinate daily communication loops between field staff, site supervisors, Branch Managers, corporate program participants, and external client auditors.

Foundational Capabilities & Prerequisites

Required Technical Profile & Experience

• Academic Foundation: Must hold a Master’s Degree (Bac+5) in Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment (QHSE), Industrial Risk Management, Engineering, or a related university science program.
• Target Audience: Designed specifically for entry-level professionals seeking their first permanent corporate position.
• Desired Technical Exposure: Initial experience gained through a formal internship or apprenticeship on an active construction site or within the mining sector is highly preferred.
• Absolute Mobility Command: Total, mandatory willingness to relocate and shift geographic home bases across the African continent at the conclusion of each annual rotation.
