Lifting Coordinator

Job Summary

The Lifting Coordinator designs technical load schematics using AutoCAD, calculates rigging stress margins, and directly supervises heavy crane operations. This expert validates equipment safety certificates, monitors ground bearing pressures, conducts pre-shift safety toolbox briefings, and enforces compliance with strict Quality, Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHEQ) policies.

Key Roles & Operational Responsibilities

1. Technical Engineering & AutoCAD Load Schematics

• Structural Drafting: Model, scale, and update detailed load lifting schematics and rigging structural layouts using AutoCAD or specialized engineering design software.
• Component Dimensioning: Calculate precise configurations and dimensions for critical lifting accessories, including specialized lifting beams, high-tensile shackles, master links, and multi-leg chain slings.
• Safety Margin Math: Interpret complex crane capacity charts, analyze boom radius profiles, and calculate dynamic wind/load factor weight equations to prevent tipping or failure.

2. Operational Control & Field Supervisory Execution

• Site Coordination: Direct, manage, and execute all active lifting operations on the project site strictly according to the pre-approved, engineered lifting plan.
• Team Dispatch: Enforce absolute site rules ensuring only registered crane operators, certified signalers, and qualified riggers perform mechanical handling tasks.
• Mechanical Integrity: Verify the historical logs, operational uptime, and validity of all statutory Lifting Machine Certificates and preventative maintenance programs.
• Environment Vetting: Conduct formal ground stability assessments to confirm that soil conditions, matting layouts, and outrigger pads can handle heavy crane bearing pressures safely.

3. Risk Governance & SHEQ Compliance Leadership

• Pre-Task Consultation: Chair mandatory morning toolbox safety meetings to align distributed field teams on task paths and clear communication signals.
• Field Corrections: Execute immediate, proactive stop-work authority interventions upon identifying any compromised rigging equipment, unvetted personnel, or shifting site hazards.
• Regulatory Alignment: Enforce complete adherence to corporate Quality, Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHEQ) systems alongside international oil and gas safety regulations.

Foundational Capabilities & Prerequisites

Required Technical Profile & Experience

• Academic Foundation: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or an equivalently rigorous quantitative industrial engineering field from an accredited university.
• Experience Baseline: Minimum of five (5) years of progressive, hands-on experience handling complex lifting operations specifically inside the oil and gas or heavy civil construction industries.
• Mandatory Safety Credentials:
  • Formal completion of an accredited Lifting Supervisors Safety Course (or validated structural equivalent).
  • Active, certified Appointed Person for Lifting Operations (APLO) status issued by a recognized regulatory body.
  • Successful completion of a certified, verified Rigging and Signalman Course.
• Design Tooling: Practical proficiency using AutoCAD or related computer-aided drafting tools to compile detailed lift plans.
• Leadership Inventory: Strong command skills, precise communication habits, and the professional confidence needed to direct cross-functional contractors and project crews during high-risk maneuvers.
