Job Summary
The Sales Support Intern Apprentice provides administrative, analytical, and commercial support to the Uganda sales team under the supervision of the Uganda Sales Manager. Key responsibilities include rate filing follow-up, customer query resolution, sales reporting, booking forecast tracking, and promoting eBusiness platforms across the North Corridor. Applicants require a Bachelor's degree or Diploma in a business or logistics discipline.
Key Roles & Operational Responsibilities
1. Commercial & Sales Administrative Support
- Customer Inquiry Handling: Assist the North Corridor sales team with day-to-day customer queries, issue tracking, and timely escalations under supervision.
- Reporting & Summaries: Prepare basic sales performance reports, customer call summaries, and key performance indicator (KPI) trackers.
- Meeting & Campaign Assistance: Participate in sales team meetings, take minutes, track action items, and support customer visit preparations and cargo campaigns.
2. Trade Operations, Rate Filing & Forecasts
- Booking Forecasts & Allocations: Support the compilation and follow-up of booking forecasts and customer cargo allocations along the North Corridor (e.g., via the Port of Mombasa gateway).
- Rate Filing Support: Assist in rate filing verification and monitoring to prevent billing disputes and facilitate seamless booking workflows.
- Dispute & Credit Support: Help compile documentation needed for customer dispute resolution, credit follow-ups, and collections.
3. Digital Platforms & eBusiness Promotion
- eBusiness Customer Support: Assist in handling and monitoring digitalized accounts and customer activities on CMA CGM eBusiness platforms.
- Product Awareness: Promote customer awareness of value-added services (VAS), alternative fuel solutions, and digital shipping tools.
- Cross-Departmental Coordination: Coordinate with internal booking, documentation, finance, and logistics departments to resolve customer issues.
Foundational Capabilities & Prerequisites
Required Qualifications & Competencies
- Academic Baseline: Earned Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Commerce, Sales & Marketing, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Maritime Studies, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Technical & Soft Competencies:
- Basic knowledge of sales, logistics, container shipping, or supply chain operations is an added advantage.
- Interest in Uganda trade corridors, inland transport networks, and maritime logistics.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, specifically Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Analytical mindset, attention to detail, high integrity, and willingness to learn.
