Job Summary
SME Loans Officers identify and onboard eligible business borrowers, assess financial documentation, and conduct on-site business appraisals. These specialists track portfolio performance, implement collection strategies on delinquent accounts, and handle client inquiries while maintaining alignment with corporate microfinance lending guidelines.
Key Roles & Operational Responsibilities
1. Market Penetration & Customer Acquisition
- Execute targeted field marketing campaigns across Kampala’s commercial sectors to promote Platinum Credit’s SME loan products.
- Identify, pitch, and onboard eligible small and medium enterprise owners, converting prospects into active borrowers.
- Build a sustainable pipeline of high-quality business clients to meet monthly and quarterly disbursement targets.
2. Credit Appraisal & Risk Assessment
- Receive, review, and verify all formal loan applications alongside compulsory supporting business and legal documentation.
- Conduct comprehensive on-site client appraisals, evaluating cash flows, inventory levels, and business stability to verify repayment capacity.
- Structure and recommend appropriate loan amounts and terms based strictly on individual risk profiles and company lending frameworks.
3. Portfolio Management & Debt Recovery
- Monitor the active performance of individual loan portfolios to prevent delinquencies and safeguard overall portfolio quality.
- Maintain consistent, professional client relationship management, proactively following up to ensure timely installment repayments.
- Deploy aggressive, ethical debt collection strategies and field interventions to manage overdue accounts and recover delinquent funds.
- Resolve customer complaints promptly while enforcing total compliance with internal lending policies and regulatory guidelines.
Foundational Capabilities & Prerequisites
Required Technical Profile & Experience
- Academic Foundation: Minimum of a Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE / A-Level Certificate) or its structural equivalent.
- Age Demographic: Must be 20 years of age or older at the time of application.
- Mathematical Aptitude: Advanced numerical and analytical capabilities, with the ability to swiftly interpret business cash flows and repayment ratios.
- Interpersonal Toolkit: Exceptional communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills, with a proven ability to confidently handle difficult debt recovery conversations.
- Disposition: A highly self-driven, resilient, and target-oriented professional comfortable spending significant time in the field building client networks.
