Job Summary

The Sales Team Lead recruits, trains, and manages field sales agents to achieve regional targets for SunCulture’s solar irrigation products. This leader tracks sales pipelines, establishes community and partner relationships, coordinates post-sales customer service, and works with the Regional Sales Manager to optimize sales productivity across assigned territories.

Key Roles & Operational Responsibilities

1. Agent Recruitment, Onboarding & Training

Talent Sourcing: Identify, interview, and recruit high-performing, goal-oriented field sales agents capable of engaging rural smallholder farmers.
Agent Enablement: Facilitate structured onboarding and product training to ensure agents master product features, pricing models, and pitch strategies to hit key performance indicators (KPIs).

2. Field Team Management & Productivity

Performance Tracking: Conduct daily and weekly check-ins with sales teams to drive field discipline and maximum daily output.
Pipeline Monitoring: Track lead generation, customer visits, and conversion pipelines, resolving sales roadblocks in real time.
After-Sales Service: Coordinate post-sale customer onboarding and support to safeguard brand reputation and boost referral rates.

3. Sales Execution & Community Engagement

Target Attainment: Partner with the Regional Sales Manager to establish clear team quotas and actively support agents during deal closures.
Community Relations: Build strong working relationships with local leaders, farmer cooperatives, and community partners to increase brand visibility across assigned clusters.

Foundational Capabilities & Prerequisites

Required Technical Profile & Experience

Sales Record: Proven experience in a field sales role within the renewable energy, off-grid solar, or agricultural inputs sector, with a demonstrated history of meeting or exceeding targets.
Leadership & Coaching: Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and manage field-based sales representatives under tight deadlines and dynamic conditions.
Domain Knowledge: Strong interest in or understanding of smallholder agriculture, irrigation trends, and climate technology solutions.
Resilience & Ambiguity: Excellent time management skills, emotional intelligence, and the ability to navigate ambiguous, fast-moving field environments while handling rejection gracefully.
Education Baseline: A Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Agricultural Sciences, or a related field is an added advantage.
