Job Summary
The Delivery Truck Driver operates company distribution vehicles to safely transport LPG cylinders, completes heavy loading and manual unloading procedures, and performs technical installation support for clients. This professional coordinates vehicle inspection logs, manages long-haul stock retrieval routes between Mbarara and Kampala, maintains accurate delivery documentation, and enforces strict hazardous materials safety codes.
Key Roles & Operational Responsibilities
1. Last-Mile Delivery & Field Technical Support
- Safe Transportation: Transport LPG cylinders via commercial delivery trucks to residential, commercial, and industrial clients across Mbarara and its surrounding areas.
- Installation Assistance: Provide technical field support by safely connecting, configuring, and testing gas cylinder setups for clients on-site when requested.
- Customer Relations: Represent the brand professionally at all customer touchpoints, resolving delivery questions and providing exceptional customer service.
2. Manual Handling & Long-Haul Stock Collection
- Heavy Loading Operations: Perform continuous manual loading and unloading of heavy gas cylinders to and from the delivery truck beds, applying safe lifting techniques.
- Inter-City Logistics: Execute regular supply runs between Mbarara and Kampala, picking up bulk LPG stock from the central storage depot and transporting it back safely.
- Inventory Accounting: Maintain clear delivery manifests, capture signature confirmations, and report all stock movements to the Branch Supervisor.
3. Vehicle Stewardship & Safety Compliance
- Fleet Maintenance: Run pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, verifying that company trucks remain clean, roadworthy, and properly serviced.
- Regulatory Adherence: Follow all national traffic laws, speed boundaries, and specific hazardous materials safety regulations.
- Emergency Readiness: Follow established corporate protocols for handling pressurized gas cylinders safely, ensuring a secure transport environment.
Foundational Capabilities & Prerequisites
Required Technical Profile & Experience
- Legal Authorization: Valid Ugandan driving license (Class CM or CH is highly preferred).
- Experience Baseline: Proven, successful experience driving commercial trucks, delivery vehicles, or industrial distribution assets.
- Physical Condition: Physically fit and capable of lifting, loading, and carrying heavy LPG cylinders continuously throughout an extended shift.
- Mobility Readiness: Absolute willingness and flexibility to travel regularly on long-haul routes between Mbarara and Kampala.
- Professional Traits: Highly trustworthy, reliable, and punctual, with a strong commitment to safety protocols and responsible cargo care.
